Our Model
The Mediterranean suffers a silent, systemic failure. The uncontrolled reproduction of stray dogs and cats generates a cascade of consequences: immense and preventable animal suffering, public health risks, ecological pressure, and social friction. For decades, the response has been binary and ineffective: emotional, reactive rescue or inhumane, reactive culling. Both treat symptoms. Neither addresses the cause.
This cycle of managerial failure must end. We declare a new approach.
We are the Artemis Association, a Swiss-based strategic impact fund.
Our purpose is to engineer the end of stray animal suffering in the Mediterranean. We achieve this through a model of engineered dual impact, constructed for permanence and scale.
I. The First Impact: Terminating the Source
Our primary intervention is surgical, proven, and scalable: the mass deployment of the Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) protocol. We fund, design, and oversee targeted sterilisation campaigns in zones of maximum leverage, partnering with rigorously vetted local executors. We do not chase individual suffering; we decommission the machinery that produces it. This is the only method that is both ethically defensible and mathematically effective for population control.
II. The Second Impact: Building the Permanent Capacity
A technical solution requires a permanent technical team. Therefore, our first capital allocation is human. We build and employ a dedicated operational unit—logisticians, coordinators, analysts—whose sole mission is the efficacy and integrity of our field operations. This is not overhead; it is foundational infrastructure. We transform untapped potential into professionalised expertise, creating a self-reinforcing loop where impact today funds the capability for greater impact tomorrow.
